Are you someone who will make a good candidate for a credit card? What I mean by this is ‘should you even be applying for a credit card’; I am not asking whether or not the lender will approve your application. The truth of the matter is that there are so many people who just shouldn’t ever get a credit card at all and this is for their own good. Too many people get this piece of plastic and it ends up leading them into a level of debt that they might never recover from. Regret over getting a credit card is something that a lot of people will end up feeling and you should not end up in the same situation if you can help it.
Nobody will deny that a credit card can be a nice thing to have access to. It means that in case of an emergency, you would have access to cash; it also means that if you saw something that you really wanted before you were due to get paid, that you could still have it. It is also a reality that online shopping usually requires a credit card; although these days there are a lot of websites that accept debit cards as well. So long as you clear the amount you borrow each month and don’t borrow more than you can afford to pay back there should never be a problem with credit cards.
Many of us are just not good candidates for credit cards. We seem almost unable to stop ourselves from abusing the plastic. The debt we have on the credit card from buying things that we don’t really need is carried from one month to the next. We will celebrate getting an increased limit on your cards but reach this limit in no time at all. It is soon a case where regret starts to set in because debt gets out of hand.
